65 million years ago - spectacular end to a spectacular era
Will we ever know what actually killed the dinosaurs?
Probably not, but each new piece of evidence contributes to a very lively debate. For example, it now appears that animals living in higher latitudes lingered longer than those living near the Equator which died out very rapidly.
Was this because they were:
- already stressed by a worsening climate before the catastrophe struck?
- closer to the location of the meteorite strike?
- closer to the area of volcanic activity?
- or wiped out by some combination of these conditions?
What do you think?
